Vesweeties: The Vegan Sweet Company [Customer Spotlight]

Today, we have something sumptuous for the sweet-toothed amongst you. Meet Amy and Alex, the duo behind Vesweeties, a vegan sweet company that makes delicious treats with a clear conscience. Inspired by Lord Alan Sugar (seriously!), Vesweeties has become a strong, unique brand whilst maintaining its sweet ethics.

So, we started by asking them, where did it all begin?

“Myself (Amy) and my partner Alex were both vegans, and we had been watching The Apprentice. I think it was a 2018 episode, and the lady on there had a sweet business, and we just thought, why isn’t anybody doing that for us?”

Since then, Amy and Alex have been creating and packaging sweets, with a solid commitment to quality and sustainability. Vesweeties are famous for fun and colourful branding for their chocolate packaging, which we at Aura Print have been proud to be a part of, so let’s dig into the origin.

Bringing Out The Brand

Amy and Alex understood the assignment when it came to producing their branding for Vesweeties. “We always wanted the brand to look fun and colourful! Just like our sweets! We both love the colour pink too, and that’s probably obvious from our socials and branding.”

Amy went on to say, “We started the brand name with fun bubble writing, and it has evolved to the logo and branding we see today, which started as Vegummies - but unfortunately, we had a legal battle with another company and had to change our name! So, we settled on the new name of Vesweeties.”

As it turns out, this initial issue could have been a blessing in disguise, as Amy and Alex now also create a line of vegan-friendly chocolate (and who doesn’t love peeling off chocolate packaging!).

The company's logo and branding are beautifully represented across its social media and website, and its products are often packaged with vibrant, eye-catching bag toppers. “The products need to stand out on the shelf”, adds Amy, “and having that high-quality print show off your designs and branding makes a massive difference.”

Smart And Sweet Packaging

There are a few things that help Vesweeties stand out from their competitors as Amy explains, “We are so focused on providing a great service to our customers and I think our quality and customer service will set us apart from the others! I would say our eco-friendly attitude to business would set us apart as we try to be as green as possible in what materials we use and that is reflected in the retail products!

All our products use sustainable materials, and we also support a tree-planting scheme, for every order that is placed through the website, we plant a tree (which has now resulted in over 25,000 trees being planted!). We also offset all our carbon emissions for our postal orders”.

Pick ‘n’ Mix Packaging

Vesweeties has been using Aura Print to print its sweet toppers for several years. Amy and Alex are very pleased with the quality of our packaging for sweets, "We have no complaints at all! It's been great!" said Amy, "We know when we place an order that everything will be right, and our stockists will have a product that pops out on the shelf."

Vesweeties uses its confectionary packaging to highlight its branding and to provide important product information to consumers. The sweet treat packaging is printed on recycled paper and is designed to be both informative and pleasing to the eye.

Alex adds, “The header cards do all the talking for the brand on the shelf, with our fun graphics and colours printed perfectly, to the important allergen information on the backside too!”

The Fruits Of The Future

So, looking ahead, what does the future hold for Vesweeties?

“It’s looking like we have a few dental bills to pay!” quips Alex, “but being serious, we are looking to expand our range of retail products now that brick-and-mortar shops are getting a bit more footfall – it makes sense to invest in more of these products, so we have more choice available.”

We finished our time with Amy and Alex by asking what would you say to someone considering header cards for their display products. “Go for it! For the small investment, you can make your products stand out, and you can go for recycled paper for the card!”
