We aim to produce and dispatch all orders as quickly and efficiently as possible. As every product is custom printed to order, turnaround times can vary depending on artwork approval, quantity, finishing options and the complexity of the project. More specialist products and finishes, including duplex, triplex, die cut and foiled items, will usually require additional production time due to the extra processes involved.
As you configure your product, the online calculator updates in real time to show an estimated turnaround based on your chosen options. Once you approve your proof, our team will email you a dispatch estimate for your specific order. This estimate covers the production time from proof approval to dispatch and does not include courier delivery time.

There are many ways to change the look and feel of your foil tickets. Size, shape, paper weight and finishing options all affect how your tickets look, feel and handle. Use the options below to compare what you can change and decide which combination suits your event.
Choose the Size, Orientation and Shape of Your Tickets
Standard ticket sizes work for plenty of designs, but if you need custom shapes or sizes for your tickets, we can accommodate those too.
Choose A6, DL or 210x74mm, or enter custom dimensions up to 420mm. Only one side can be over 299mm.
Choose portrait, landscape, square or a custom shape to suit the way you want the ticket to look. For custom shapes, please supply the cut line as a solid 1pt magenta line on a separate layer in your artwork file.
Choose single or double-sided printing when you need more room for event details, branding or other information. You can add one foil colour to each side, using the same colour on both or a different colour for the front and reverse.
Add Perforations for Tear-Off Sections
Perforations let you divide your ticket into sections that can be removed when needed. You can add a single tear-off stub or use several perforation lines when different parts of the ticket need to be detached separately.
Add horizontal or vertical perforations depending on how you want the ticket to tear.
Use multiple perforation lines to create several removable sections, so different parts of the ticket can be handed over or kept at different points during your event.
Use detachable sections for things like admission stubs, vouchers, drink tokens or other information that needs to be handed over separately.
Change How Your Tickets Feel in the Hand
Paper weight and corner style both change how your finished tickets look and feel in the hand. You can adjust both to suit the type of ticket you want to create.
Choose from paper weights between 250gsm and 800gsm. Lower paper weights give you a thinner, more flexible ticket, while higher weights feel thicker and firmer in the hand.
800gsm colour core is the thickest option available, with a coloured centre visible around the cut edge. If your tickets need perforations, 700gsm is the heaviest option available, as 800gsm colour core is too thick for tear-off sections.
Keep straight corners for a traditional shape, or choose 6mm or 16mm rounded corners. A 6mm radius softens the corners slightly, while 16mm gives the ticket a more rounded appearance.
Personalise Individual Tickets With Data Merge
Tickets are often personal to the attendee, so you can use a data merge to change names, numbers and other details from one ticket to the next while keeping the main design consistent. We provide a Variable Data Merge template to help you organise the information correctly before sending it to us.
Select All Prints Personalised via Data Merge in the product calculator when you require each ticket to have personalised information.
Each column represents a data field, such as a name, ticket number or other changing detail, while each row represents one printed ticket.
Complete our data merge template, then reply to your order confirmation email with the template and your artwork. Include any styling instructions for the changing data, such as font, colour and size, so we know how it should appear on each ticket.
Supply Your Finished Artwork or Ask Us to Design Your Tickets
You can send us artwork that is ready to print, or ask our in-house design team to create your ticket from a written brief. Whichever route you choose, we’ll send you a digital proof to check and approve before production begins.
Select Email Finished Artwork if your artwork is ready to print, then reply to your order confirmation, sending us the print and foil artworks separately.
If you need design support, select Supply Brief and We Design and reply to your order confirmation with the wording, branding, imagery, references and any instructions you want us to work from.
We’ll check your files for technical issues and contact you if anything needs adjusting. When you receive your digital proof, please check all spelling, information and layout, including the placement of any personalised data, before approving it for production.
Printing the Base Design
Every foiled product begins with the main artwork being printed, which is the first stage in how our digital foil printing process works. This creates the text, imagery and background elements that form the printed base layer. Printing this artwork first allows the metallic details to be positioned accurately as part of the finished design during the later stages.
Applying the Soft Touch Laminate
Once printed, the sheet is covered with an ultra-fine soft touch laminate. Any side receiving foil must be laminated so the toner can adhere cleanly before the metallic foil is applied. The laminate also protects the printed surface, prepares it for the foiling process and adds a smooth, velvety matt finish.
Overprinting the Foil Areas
Toner is then printed over the soft touch laminate using the separately supplied foil artwork. This overprint defines the areas intended to receive foil, such as lettering, linework, logos or selected design details. For every side being foiled, supply one print file and one separate foil file, following our foil artwork setup guide.
Applying the Metallic Foil
Finally, the printed sheets pass through one of our foiling machines, where the chosen metallic foil is bonded to the toner using heat and pressure, bringing the full printed design together. The sheets can then move on to cutting, creasing or any other required finishing.

For products with foil, Spot UV, cutting, creasing, perforation or drilling, we strongly recommend a composite reference page for each printed side to prevent mirrored or misplaced finishing elements and guide our design team when preparing your proof.

We understand not everyone is a professional designer. You may not know your RGB from your CMYK or your bleed from your trap. That's why we have our in-house team on hand to craft the design of your dreams. All designs are individually created by our talented bunch. Yes, that's right, real people!
Keep metallic foil lines and small details at 0.5pt (0.18mm) or thicker at the finished ticket size, and leave the same distance between separate foiled elements. This gives fine linework, lettering, borders and other small foil details enough space to reproduce cleanly.
Make sure to check your artwork at the size it will be printed, as details that look clear while zoomed in on screen can become much finer once reduced to the finished ticket dimensions.
Can Metallic Foil Cover Large Areas of a Ticket?+
Yes. Metallic foil can be used for anything from small details to large sections of your ticket, including full-coverage designs.
There is no technical requirement to keep foil use minimal. It is a design choice, so you can use a small amount for selected details or go much further and make the foil one of the main features of the ticket.
If the foil is intended to run right to the finished edge, extend the foil artwork beyond the trim line into the bleed area. This gives the cut room to move slightly without leaving a narrow unfoiled edge after trimming.
Will Metallic Foil Line Up Exactly With Printed Artwork?+
Metallic foil and printed artwork are applied during separate production stages, so a small amount of movement between them is normal. The foil may shift by up to 1mm relative to the printed artwork, which is within our normal production tolerance.
If foil is meant to sit over printed colour, extend the printed colour underneath the whole foiled area rather than leaving a precise blank space for the foil to fill. This means any movement is much less noticeable, especially around borders, outlines and other details that need to sit closely together.
Do Metallic Foil Tickets Need Soft Touch Lamination?+
Soft touch lamination is a required part of the foiling process, so any side of your ticket that receives metallic foil must also have soft touch lamination. The laminate prepares the printed surface so the toner can adhere cleanly before the metallic foil is applied. For more information, see our Foiling Process tab.
Despite the laminate, toner and foil all being applied on top of the print, the finished foil does not feel raised or embossed in any way. The foil itself is around 6,000 times thinner than a human hair, so the finished ticket remains smooth to the touch rather than having raised metallic areas.
If you only foil one side of the ticket, the unfoiled reverse can be left unlaminated or finished with matt, gloss or soft touch lamination, depending on how you want that side to look, feel and be used.
Can I Write on the Back of a Metallic Foil Ticket?+
If you plan to write on your tickets by hand, the most suitable writing surface would be to leave the reverse unlaminated.
You can still write on laminated areas, but different pens and inks can behave differently on the surface. We do not test or recommend specific pens, so test the one you intend to use on the finished material before writing across the full batch.
How Do I Set Up Artwork for Metallic Foil Tickets?+
Supply your printed artwork separately from the metallic foil artwork. Each side being foiled needs its own foil artwork. Your foil artwork should contain only the areas that need foil, shown in solid 100% black on a white background, with no printed elements included.
In the print artwork, leave the foil elements themselves out, but continue any printed colours, backgrounds or other artwork underneath areas where the foil will sit. The foil is opaque, so that print will not show through, but extending it underneath helps account for the normal movement that can occur between the print and foil during production.
For double-sided tickets, clearly separate and label the front and back print artwork, along with the foil artwork for each side being foiled. We also recommend supplying a composite reference, which is an additional file showing the print and foil together as you want the finished ticket to appear. This helps our pre-press team check the intended positioning before production.
Can a Digital Proof Show What Metallic Foil Will Look Like?+
Your digital proof shows where the metallic foil will appear, how much of the ticket it covers and how it sits alongside your printed artwork, but it cannot reproduce the foil’s reflective finish on screen.
Our pre-press team checks that the artwork is technically suitable for production, while the proof gives you the chance to confirm that the content, layout, foil placement and overall design are correct for your order before anything goes to print.
If you want to judge the foil’s actual colour and how its reflection changes with the light and viewing angle, a physical metallic foil sample will give you a much more accurate reference.
How Can I Make My Tickets Easier to Check as Genuine?+
Select All Prints Personalised via Data Merge to add changing details such as attendee names, individual ticket numbers or unique QR codes to each ticket. These can then be checked against your booking records, guest list or entry system when validating admission.
Metallic foil, personalised details and your event artwork can also make tickets easier to recognise visually, but we do not offer dedicated security features such as void labels or security holograms. If your event requires stronger validation, use the printed ticket alongside the security or entry system you already use.
Can I See Metallic Foil in Person Before Ordering Tickets?+
If you would like to compare the foil colours, reflection, a selection of paper stocks and overall print finish in person before choosing your ticket specification, you can order one of our metallic foil sample packs.
The pack includes examples of several paper stocks as well as the metallic foil finishes, but not every material included is suitable for metallic foil tickets, as some are used for other products such as stickers. Refer to the Paper Stocks section on this page for the papers available with this product.
Seeing the foil finishes in person gives you a more accurate idea of their colour and reflection, especially as metallic and holographic foils change with the light and viewing angle.

Also, I needed to show the age and character of the piece, and it was important for the size to be historically accurate. I custom designed an invitation suite for a retirement party, and first worked with Aura on my save-the-dates before doing a larger order. I was blown away by the lightning-fast proofing process, and then the incredibly quick printing. Both orders included custom foiling (which I could not find for a better price point anywhere, especially here in the US). We graphic designers know that human creativity is the core of what we do, which is why I was so appreciative that I was working with fellow humans through this process, and not through some AI. Further, the shipping process was spectacular. Whereas many US-based businesses were offering week-long SHIPPING times (excluding printing), Aura offers as its default UPS Express shipping for the US. As a result, their shipments have a 2-day transit time (for me, in a smaller city, but would be overnight for major metros), and are guaranteed by UPS. Having traversed the world of e-commerce shipping, nothing brings me greater relief than to see UPS as a shipping option. Additionally, and quite importantly for my fellow US designers, because my order consisted of what could reasonably be described as printed marketing materials, they should not be subject to tariffs. The shipping department at Aura made sure that the customs information was filled out correctly, leaving me with no duties to pay, for which I am eternally grateful. Awed by the quality of my save-the-dates, proceeding with the rest of my suite was a no-brainer, which included a main invite, detail card, and reply card. The turnaround time was similarly rapid, and the quality of the work simply unmatched. To all designers, but especially those in the US, do not let the idea of an international shipper stop you. I've never known a more professional company, period, and will certainly be reordering whenever my next printing job arises. SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES!
