Choose the Right Flyer Size for Your Campaign

The size and format of your flyer play an important role in how your message is seen and used. From our experience printing flyers for everything from local promotions to large-scale campaigns, different sizes are better suited to different types of distribution.

Compact options like A7 flyers, A6 flyers, and 4x6 flyers are ideal for quick handouts, inserts, or takeaway menus. 5x7 flyers and A5 flyers offer a good balance between space and portability, making them a popular choice for event promotion and general marketing. Larger formats such as A4 and A3 are better suited to more detailed designs, in-store displays, or situations where visibility is key.

You can also choose between single-sided flyers for simple, focused messaging or double-sided flyers when you need more space without increasing the overall size. Alongside standard formats, DL, square, die-cut, and custom sizes are available to help your flyers stand out.

Every option is printed with consistent colour and finish, so your flyers not only look right on screen, but perform as expected once they’re in people’s hands. If you’re unsure which size or format is right for your campaign, our team can guide you based on your design and how your flyers will be distributed.

Finishing Options to Enhance Your Flyers

Once you’ve chosen your size, paper, and print finish, additional finishing options can help shape how your flyers are used and how they’re received.

Laminated flyers, including gloss, matte, and soft touch, are a popular choice for adding durability and refining the overall appearance, particularly for flyers that will be handled frequently or used over a longer period. Lamination can also help colours appear more defined and protect against wear. Soft touch lamination is added as standard to all metallic foil flyer projects.

Options like rounded-corner flyers offer a cleaner, softer edge that’s less prone to damage during handling, while die-cut flyer shapes allow you to create more unique flyers for brand-led campaigns or creative promotions. For more functional uses, perforated flyers are often used for tear-off sections such as vouchers, contact details, or event tickets, and creasing is ideal for folded flyers where a clean, controlled fold is needed.

These finishing touches are often used to support how a flyer is distributed, whether that’s handed out in person, included in packaging, or displayed in-store.

Choosing the Right Paper for Your Flyers

The paper you choose plays a key role in how your flyers look, feel, and perform once they’re in circulation. From our experience printing flyers for everything from local promotions to large-scale campaigns, different paper types suit different goals - whether that’s durability, visual impact, or ease of distribution.

Some papers are better suited to bold, full-colour designs, while others work best for more minimal layouts or where writing on the flyer is required. Whether you’re producing handouts, inserts, takeaway menus, or event flyers, choosing the right stock helps ensure your message is presented clearly and holds up during handling.

All of our paper options are selected for print quality and consistency, and can be paired with a range of finishes and weights. If you’re unsure which paper is right for your flyers, our team can guide you based on your design and how your flyers will be used.

What Are Flyers And Leaflets Used For?

Generally, all flyers and leaflets aim to do the same thing - get a message across (and quickly!). Whether you’re promoting your trade show stall, trying to drum up business at your new nail salon, or handing out discount flyers for local trade services, flyers need a clear call to action if they’re going to earn their keep.

Most of our customers use flyers when they need something quick to read, easy to hand out, and inexpensive to produce and post. You might use an advertising flyer to promote a local offer, an event flyer to hand out at gigs, or even a bulk flyer order for a wider campaign where you need thousands of flyers ready to go at the drop of a hat. In short, you can use them for all-sorts!

The real beauty of flyers is that they don’t tend to ask much from the reader. A good headline, a strong design, and a clear call to action can do a lot of work in a relatively small space. If you’re still trying to decide how flyers could fit into your marketing, our guide to promoting with leaflets covers all our leaflet distribution and design tips as well as things to avoid when designing leaflets! Want to take a deeper dive into the world of flyers? We’ve outlined 6 reasons to use flyers and 6 design considerations.

What’s The Difference Between Flyers and Leaflets?

As far as we’re concerned, it’s mostly semantics. The difference between flyers and leaflets is blurry, and people tend to use the two interchangeably. Leaflets and flyers are both lightweight sheets used to share information, promote something, or get a message out into the world, but some might argue that they differ slightly.

A flyer is usually thought of as a single flat sheet, generally used for quick promos, events, offers, or announcements, while a leaflet can be seen as more information-led. If it’s folded, creased, or set up with multiple panels, our customers are more likely to refer to them as leaflets, so the real difference generally comes down to how you want to use it rather than what you want to call it.

At Aura Print, you can keep things simple by calling it whatever you like! You can order a flat single-sided or double-sided flyer, create something more detailed with creases and folds, or add perforations and foil. If you need more content separation, a folded leaflet (or flyer) might be the better option. If you want one bold message that lands like a Marvel superhero, a flat flyer will do the trick.

What Size Flyer Or Leaflet Should I Choose?

That really depends on how and where you want your flyers to be used, how much information you need to feature, and how you want people to interact with it. A small flyer is perfect if you want something easy to distribute outside a brand new pop-up shop, while larger leaflets give you more room for images, menus, service details, or campaign information.

For more compact flyers, A7, A6, 4x6, 5x7, and DL are absolutely perfect. A5 is probably the most commonly seen flyer size, especially for promotional flyers, while our customers tend to choose A4 or A3 if their leaflets are more likely to be pinned to notice boards or windows rather than handed out and pocketed. We also offer square and custom sizes if standard sizes don’t fit the bill for you - just enter your dimensions in millimeters and you’ll get an instant quote.

If you’re still not sure where to start, why not think about the job your flyers need to do? Nightclub handouts, food van offers, and estate agent leaflets all have very different jobs to do, so they should not all be forced into the same size. If you’re planning a folded flyer, we created our bound brochure and folded leaflet printing guide to help you understand how folds and finished sizes work together.

Are Your Flyers and Leaflets Single or Double Sided?

Either-or! Whether you need single-sided flyers or double-sided leaflets, we’ve got you covered. Our customers generally opt for single-sided flyers when the message is short and punchy - think a meal deal flyer or happy hour offer - they need to be handed out quickly and on-mass, pinned up, or popped in to take away bags.

Double-sided flyers generally have a little more to say. They’re a great choice when you want the front to grab attention and the rear to carry all the important details - think a product image on the front and USP’s on the back.

Our team tends to recommend double-sided printing when customers are paying for a detailed flyer that needs to be physically handed out, posted, or packed into orders. Think of the psychology behind a flyer - when you pick it up, chances are you automatically flip it over to see what’s on the back - are we right? The most important tip we can share is not to cram the second side with information just because it’s there. Empty space isn’t scary, it’s helpful, so make sure you give your flyer design enough room to breathe - your flyers will do a better job for it.

What Paper Type is Best for Flyer and Leaflet Printing?

Again, that’s all down to what you need your flyers to do. For everyday promotional flyers, silk and gloss tend to be our most popular choices because they provide clear print and a smooth, professional finish. They’re the GOAT’s when it comes to making bold, bright, image-heavy print look spectacular, while uncoated is better if the flyer needs to be written on or you want a softer, more natural feel.

If you want a stock that reflects your M-O, the eco-led brands we work with tend to choose Kraft or recycled. These stocks are the go-to for makers, food businesses and rustic aesthetics within sustainable spaces because of their natural make-up and easy recyclability.

For something a tad more premium or showy, you can explore stocks within our Zeta and Colorplan lineups, pearlescent, Tintoretto Gesso, cotton, rag, wheat, cannabis, Nevertear, and many, many more.

Weights range from around 100gsm up to 800gsm depending on the stock, so there is a huge difference between a lightweight leaflet and a triple-thick premium flyer. If you’re still not sure which of our materials is right for your job, we have three guides for you! Discover the best paper weight for flyers in our dedicated blog, learn the ins-and outs of printing onto textured paper, and see our entire paper range in our guide to gloss, silk, or uncoated paper.

Do You Sell Eco-Friendly Flyers and Leaflets?

Yes, and we have more options than just the bog-standard recycled paper. We offer a broad range of recycled, recyclable, compostable, and more eco-conscious paper stocks for flyer printing, so you can choose something that suits both your design and your values.

Recycled tends to be the most popular choice, though. It’s the closest to classic uncoated paper so it reproduces colour well and is easy to write on, while Kraft gives a more rustic, earthy feel ideal for black print. Cotton, rag, wheat, and cannabis each bring their own character, too, making your flyer feel much more in-line with your values than a standard disposable flyer.

We also recommend thinking about the job as a whole rather than just the paper. Quantity, size, lamination, ink coverage, and whether the flyers will be handed out, posted, or kept all make a difference. If you’re trying to make more thoughtful print choices, our guide to printing eco-friendly flyers is the place to start.

Can Leaflets Be Folded, Creased, or Perforated?

Yes, yes & yes. We can add up to 3 horizontal or vertical creases, which opens up lots of folded leaflet options, including half-fold, tri-fold, Z-fold, gate fold, roll fold, and cross fold flyers. Folded flyers are really useful when you need more sections for separated information, but still want the flyer to feel neat, cohesive, and easy to handle.

As far as perforations go, we can add up to 2 vertical or horizontal, or you can tell us where you would like your custom tear-off sections to sit. Customers who are creating voucher-style flyers, appointment flyers, or reply forms generally opt for this service as it allows them to keep or remove relevant sections.

As with paper and custom finishes, we always recommend planning folds and perforations into your artwork from the very beginning. If a fold lands across a face, logo, QR code, or important line of text, it won’t look the way you’d initially hoped once printed and finished. If you’re creating a folded flyer and want to understand how the layout will work, our bound brochure and folded leaflet printing guide is a handy read.

Can I Add Foil, Spot UV or Lamination to My Flyers?

Yes, as long as you choose a compatible stock.

Foil is the #1 choice for logos, headings, borders, and small details that deserve a little more attention, whereas Spot UV is popular when you want a subtle glossy highlight. Soft-touch, matt, and gloss laminations will work to keep your flyers feeling-high end, helping protect them from the wear-and-tear faced by lightweight, unlaminated flyers.

The trick is to make sure the finish has a clear job to do. A little shimmer in the right place can make a flyer feel less disposable, but covering everything in foil can pull away from the flyer elements you really want to stand out. If you’re planning something shiny for an event or product launch, we talk about how metallic foil flyers can put your event in the limelight in our recent guide.

Can I Order Different Designs in the Same Order?

Yes, you can split your order across as many designs as you need, just as long as the flyer size, paper, weight, and finishes all remain the same. The design can change, but the print specification needs to stay consistent across the whole order. If you want different stocks to match different designs, different foils to enhance different elements, or perforations in different places, you will need to order each batch separately.

Our split design service is great if you have different flyer versions for different branch locations, events, offers, or customer groups. For example, if you have one flyer design for a weekend 3-course meal offer, another for a weekday 2-course lunch offer, and a third design for a brand-new cocktail hour, we’ve got you covered.

We can also personalise each of your flyers using a data merge if you need easy personalisation with different locations, events, offers, names, or QR codes. For data merge jobs, we’ll need a well-organised spreadsheet alongside your artwork - this should feature all of your variable data clearly. Once we have that in our inbox, our pre-press team will get to work merging your changeable details so that every flyer looks like part of the same set, just with its own individual information seamlessly dropped in.

Can Aura Print Design My Flyers For Me?

Yes, our team would be happy to help design your flyers if you don’t have finished artwork ready to send over. Whether you need your flyers designing from scratch, or just need help turning your idea into something a bit more print-friendly, we can work with you to get it sorted.

Simply select the “Supply Brief & We Design” option when placing your order, then reply to your confirmation email with your design brief, wording, logo, images, and anything else you need us to include in your design. You might have an idea already, or you might just know the message you want your flyer to get across. Either way, we can help shape it into a finished design.

The clearer your brief, the easier it will be for your assigned designer to close to what you have in mind on the first design attempt. If you’re not sure what to include in your brief, our how-to on writing a design brief will help you pull everything together before we get started.

Production & Turnaround

Once your artwork is approved, your flyer order is scheduled for production based on the turnaround you select at checkout. Most flyer orders are printed and dispatched within a few working days of proof approval.

Because flyers are often used for time-sensitive campaigns, we structure our production schedule to keep things moving efficiently while maintaining print consistency across the full run.

We work with trusted UK couriers, with most mainland orders arriving the next working day after dispatch. For full details on turnaround times and delivery options, visit our dedicated delivery page.

Consistency Across Every Print Run

Flyers are typically printed in high volumes, so consistency is key. Each order is checked before dispatch to ensure colour, alignment, and finish remain consistent across the entire batch.

During production, we print additional sheets to allow for setup and calibration. This allows our team to remove any prints that don’t meet our standards, ensuring the flyers you receive are clean, accurate, and ready for distribution.

Artwork Checks & Proofing

Before printing begins, you’ll receive a digital proof to review and approve. At this stage, we prepare your artwork for print and check for anything that could affect the final result.

Our team reviews bleed, positioning, fold lines (where applicable), and how your design will translate across different flyer sizes and formats. If anything needs attention, we’ll highlight it clearly so it can be corrected before production.

Careful review at this stage helps avoid delays and ensures your flyers are ready when you need them.

If There’s an Issue With Your Flyers

If something isn’t right with your order, contact us with your order details and a description of the issue. We’ll review everything and confirm the next steps.

Where a problem is identified on our side, we’ll prioritise a reprint to resolve it as quickly as possible.

Working With You to Get It Right

Flyer printing often involves balancing design, format, and distribution needs. If your artwork needs small adjustments to achieve the best result, we’ll explain the issue clearly and recommend the most effective solution.

Our aim is to ensure your flyers don’t just print well, but perform effectively once they’re out in the real world.
