Die Cut Or Kiss Cut (Shaped) Products Including Stickers
We aim to produce and dispatch all orders as quickly and efficiently as possible. As every product is custom printed to order, turnaround times can vary depending on artwork approval, quantity, finishing options, and the complexity of the project.
Once your proof has been approved, the minimum production turnaround is 2 full working days before dispatch. More specialist products and finishes including duplexed, triplexed, die cut, and foiled items will usually require additional production time due to the extra processes involved. Are Rectangle Stickers and Oblong Stickers the Same Thing?+
Usually, yes. Rectangle stickers have four straight sides and four right-angled corners, with one pair of sides longer than the other. The word oblong is commonly used for the same elongated shape. A square sticker has four equal sides, while a custom die-cut sticker follows a non-standard outline. If you need a conventional four-sided label that is wider or taller than it is square, rectangle sticker printing is the right category.
How Is the Size of a Rectangle Sticker Measured?+
We measure a rectangle sticker by its finished width and height. For example, a 70mm x 40mm sticker finishes at 70mm across and 40mm high when viewed in landscape orientation. The finished dimensions do not include bleed. State the measurements clearly when ordering and supply the artwork at the same proportions so it is not stretched, squashed or cropped unexpectedly.
How Do I Choose the Right Proportions for a Rectangular Sticker?+
Start by measuring the usable flat area and considering what the design needs to contain. A wide rectangle suits a horizontal wordmark or a short line of information, while a taller format suits stacked text or a vertical graphic. Keep the aspect ratio of the artwork consistent with the finished sticker size. Printing a paper mock-up at 100% scale and placing it on the intended item is a useful way to check the proportions and legibility before ordering.
Can Rectangle Stickers Be Printed in Portrait or Landscape Orientation?+
Yes. Landscape means the width is greater than the height, while portrait means the height is greater than the width. The physical rectangle can be rotated, but the printed artwork determines the intended reading direction. Supply the file in the orientation you want customers to see and check the proof carefully, particularly if the sticker must line up with an edge, opening or other feature on the item.
Can I Adapt Square or Circular Artwork Into a Rectangle?+
Yes, but the layout normally needs to be rebuilt rather than stretched. Enlarging a square or circle design to fill a rectangle can distort logos, photographs and type. Instead, keep the original elements in proportion, reposition them within the wider or taller canvas and decide how the background should fill the extra space. If the design depends on a circular edge or equal sides, keeping its original shape may produce a stronger result.
How Should I Design a Long, Narrow Rectangle Sticker?+
Use a simple visual hierarchy and allow enough space around every element. Long, narrow stickers work best with concise wording, a horizontal logo or a small number of details arranged along the long edge. Avoid squeezing several lines of tiny text into the short dimension. Check the artwork at the finished printed size, not only while it is enlarged on screen, and keep all important content inside the safe zone.
Can My Design Print Right to the Edge of a Rectangle Sticker?+
Yes. Extend every background colour, photograph or pattern 2mm beyond all four sides of the finished rectangle so the design continues through the bleed area. This helps prevent fine unprinted edges if the cut moves slightly during production. Keep the finished dimensions unchanged and extend only the background elements that are meant to reach the edge. How Much Safe Space Should I Leave Inside a Rectangular Sticker?+
Keep text, logos and important foreground details at least 3mm inside every finished cut edge. This safe zone is separate from the 2mm bleed outside the rectangle. Pay attention to the shorter dimension on a narrow sticker, where content can become crowded quickly. Our artwork-checking guide explains how finished size, bleed and safety margins work together.
Why Should I Avoid a Thin Border Near the Edge of a Rectangle Sticker?+
A narrow border makes normal print and cut movement easy to notice because the gap may appear slightly wider on one side than another. If a border is essential, make it substantial and position it at least 4mm inside each finished edge. A full-bleed background or borderless layout is usually more forgiving. Why Might a Rectangular Design Look Slightly Off-Centre After Cutting?+
Printing and cutting are physical processes, so slight movement can occur as the sheet passes through the equipment and each rectangle is cut. This is normal within production tolerances and is most visible when artwork contains very thin frames, perfectly equal margins or details close to the edges. Generous safe space, stronger borders and backgrounds that extend through the bleed make small variations much less noticeable.
Can Photographs or Repeating Patterns Fill a Rectangle Sticker?+
Yes. Rectangles suit photographs, illustrations and repeating patterns because the straight edges create a familiar image area. Crop photographs to the same aspect ratio as the finished sticker before supplying the file, and avoid placing faces or other essential details close to the cut edge. For a repeating pattern, continue the pattern smoothly through the 2mm bleed on every side so a small cutting variation does not create an unprinted strip.
What Artwork Files Should I Supply for Rectangle Sticker Printing?+
Supply your rectangle sticker artwork at the finished width and height in CMYK, at a minimum of 300 DPI, with 2mm bleed and a 3mm safe zone. We accept PDF, JPG and fully packaged Adobe Illustrator files. Vector logos are ideal because they remain sharp when resized; raster images must contain enough pixels at the final dimensions. Both orders included custom foiling (which I could not find for a better price point anywhere, especially here in the US). We graphic designers know that human creativity is the core of what we do, which is why I was so appreciative that I was working with fellow humans through this process, and not through some AI. Further, the shipping process was spectacular. Whereas many US-based businesses were offering week-long SHIPPING times (excluding printing), Aura offers as its default UPS Express shipping for the US. As a result, their shipments have a 2-day transit time (for me, in a smaller city, but would be overnight for major metros), and are guaranteed by UPS. Having traversed the world of e-commerce shipping, nothing brings me greater relief than to see UPS as a shipping option. Additionally, and quite importantly for my fellow US designers, because my order consisted of what could reasonably be described as printed marketing materials, they should not be subject to tariffs. The shipping department at Aura made sure that the customs information was filled out correctly, leaving me with no duties to pay, for which I am eternally grateful. Awed by the quality of my save-the-dates, proceeding with the rest of my suite was a no-brainer, which included a main invite, detail card, and reply card.
