Can I Write on the PAT Test Stickers by Hand?

Standard unlaminated paper labels can be written on with a biro or suitable marker pen. If you choose lamination, a permanent marker is generally the safer option because pen performance varies on smooth films. Allow the ink to dry before handling or applying the label, and test the exact pen and finish together before a large rollout if entries must withstand frequent contact or cleaning.
Which PAT Test Sticker Material Should I Choose?
We offer high-tack, crackback and fluorescent paper options. High-tack paper is useful where the selected surface needs a stronger adhesive; crackback paper has a split backing that can make labels quicker to peel during a testing round; and fluorescent paper makes the label easier to notice. The best choice depends on the appliance surface, curvature, handling and environment. Clean plastics, painted metal and textured casings can behave differently, so we recommend testing a sample on the actual equipment before ordering the full quantity.
Can PAT Test Stickers Be Designed for Plug Tops and Small Appliances?
Yes. We can create compact PAT test labels for plug tops and other small areas, provided the essential fields remain legible and the label does not cover safety markings, ventilation or moving parts. Short field names, strong contrast and a restrained logo usually work best. Avoid very fine borders or information positioned too close to the cut edge, because small print and cutting have normal production tolerances. Will Laminated PAT Test Labels Still Be Writable?
They can be, but the writing tool matters. A permanent marker will usually perform more reliably on a laminated surface than a biro, while water-based, erasable or low-adhesion inks may smudge or rub away. Leave generous blank areas for handwritten entries and allow the ink to dry fully. If the team uses a particular pen, cleaning product or handling process, test that combination on the chosen matt or gloss laminate first. For the easiest biro writing, an unlaminated paper label may be the more practical option.
When Should I Laminate PAT Test Stickers?
Lamination is worth considering when labels may face damp conditions, splashes, chemicals, frequent handling, cleaning or abrasion. It adds a clear protective film over the print and is available in matt or gloss finishes. The film can improve durability, but it does not make every paper label suitable for continuous water exposure, heat or harsh chemicals, and it can change how easily the writable fields accept ink. Do PAT Test Stickers Prove Compliance or Replace Test Records?
No. A PAT test sticker is a convenient visual indicator, not proof by itself that an appliance is safe or that an organisation has met every legal or insurance requirement. Labels can be damaged, removed or completed incorrectly, so keep the underlying inspection results, asset records and maintenance history in the system used by your organisation. Testing intervals and record requirements depend on the equipment, environment, risk assessment and applicable guidance. A competent person should set the procedure and confirm the wording used on the label.
Can You Design a Custom PAT Test Sticker Template for Me?

How Should I Apply PAT Test Labels to Appliances?
Apply each label to a clean, dry and reasonably smooth area where it can be seen without interfering with the appliance. Remove dust, grease and cleaning residue, let the surface dry, then press the label down firmly across the whole area. Avoid vents, hot zones, switches, hinges, existing rating plates and sharply curved sections unless the label has been tested there. Allow the adhesive time to settle before heavy handling or cleaning. Because appliance plastics and coatings vary, a sample test is the best way to confirm adhesion.
What Artwork Files Should I Supply for PAT Test Sticker Printing?
Supply your artwork as a PDF, JPG or fully packaged Adobe Illustrator file. Set colour artwork to CMYK and raster images to at least 300dpi at the final size. Include 2mm bleed beyond the cut edge and keep text, logos, writable boxes and other important elements within the 3mm safe zone.
