A Cut Above the Rest: What Can We Die Cut?

I’m in love with the shape of you – a phrase coined by songwriter extraordinaire Ed Sheeran. But when it comes to our shapes, the only pop we’re interested in is the visual pop that die cut printing can bring to your marketing materials. If you’re just feeling your way around die cut products, you may be in need of some inspiration. Well, you’ve come to the best place.

Die Cut Shapes

Time to think outside the box – literally! Die-cut printing gives you the power to create marketing materials with a next-level purpose. Imagine hang tags that double as promotional tools, folders with custom cutouts for easy access, or product packaging that stands out on the shelf in all the right ways. Let’s look at some of the excellent ways die cutting can benefit you.

Flyers

Die Cut Flyers

Roll up, roll up! We have a brilliant event coming up and here’s a rectangle flyer all about it. Don’t get me wrong, nothing wrong with a standard-shaped flyer, but what will it say to your intended audience when you hand them a bespoke-shaped flyer that matches the theme of your event?

Why be square when your event is anything but? Let your flyer be a sneak peek of the excitement to come. Ditch the standard and grab a flyer that truly represents your event's spirit, which will stick in the mind of anyone who handles it.

Business Cards

Die-cutting your business cards can be a game-changer for a few reasons. Firstly, it's a guaranteed way to make a lasting impression. Imagine handing someone a card shaped like a house if you're an estate agent, or a pair of scissors if you're a hairdresser.

These unexpected shapes will spark curiosity and ensure your card isn't lost in the pile of standard rectangles. Die-cutting can even add a touch of functionality. A baker could create a card shaped like a bun, with a section that folds out into a mini recipe card. This kind of creative twist will not only be memorable but also provide the recipient with something they can use.

Now I want cake…

A die cut product tag instantly sets your merchandise apart. Think of a leaf-shaped tag for a natural skincare line or a mini luggage tag for a travel accessory brand. Die-cut tags add a touch of personality and reinforce your brand's unique identity. They're not just tags anymore, they become miniature billboards that spark interest and leave a lasting impression on potential customers.

Plant Tags

Die-cutting allows you to create unique shapes that complement your plants, like a butterfly shape for a flowering bush or a sun shape for a succulent (a cactus for example). Paired with our Nevertear stock, you can have a die cut tag that will resist water, soil and bending that can occur to plant tags on a regular basis.

Plus, die-cut plant tags offer a surprising amount of real estate for information. You can include plant names, care instructions, or even QR codes linking to detailed care guides. With a little creativity, your die-cut plant tags can become a valuable resource for fellow plant enthusiasts, promoting a love for nature.

Bookmarks

Die Cut Plant Bookmarks

Imagine a bookmark shaped like a tiny hot air balloon for an adventure novel, or a magnifying glass for a murder mystery. These playful shapes will not only enhance the joy of reading but also act as conversation starters, sparking curiosity about the book you're engrossed in. You’ll be the talk of your next book club meeting!

Die-cut bookmarks are a fantastic way to promote literacy in a fun and personalised way. For children's books, consider whimsical shapes like animals, flowers, or favourite story characters. These eye-catching designs will encourage young readers to engage with their books and create a lasting positive association with reading. Additionally, the durability of die-cut bookmarks, often made from thicker cardstock, ensures they'll withstand the enthusiastic handling of little hands.

Everyone loves a sticker! And whilst there is no such thing as a bad sticker, with die-cutting or kiss cutting (more on that later), you can get very inventive. Maybe you have a swag set that you like to send out to your customers? Putting in a few die cut stickers can deliver a lasting, fun impression.

Die-cut stickers are a fantastic way to elevate your brand, whether for personal or business use. Their unique shapes add an eye-catching touch to laptops, water bottles, notebooks, and more. They also make wonderful additions to event or conference swag bags, and offer a creative way to share your logo, artwork, or message in a memorable format.

Die Cut Use Cases

When Homeaides offered their assistance during the Covid-19 pandemic, they decided to reach out with these excellent flyers. “We felt the phone-shaped concept was the best way to inspire families to call”, said Anthony Rodriguez, the marketing and brand manager for Homeaides.

“We found that Aura Print’s premium printing capabilities, affordable solutions, convenient ordering process and fast shipping have made them stand out as a go-to print solutions partner for our company."

Honourable Mention: Kiss Cut

We do have an article about the difference between die cut and kiss cut if you want to know more about the method. But kiss cutting allows for multiple stickers to adhere to 1 sheet of paper.

The benefit of kiss cutting is that the stickers are much easier to peel compared to die cut stickers. As kiss cutting leaves you with the entire sheet, you have a much wider area to help you peel from. So, we would say, if you’re going to be doing a large amount of peeling and sticking, then you’re going to want to go down the kiss-cut route.
