Allow 2 mm of bleed around all artwork for cutting tolerances.
Format all artwork to CMYK.
Set your resolution to a minimum of 300 DPI.
Supply your artwork in PDF, JPG or fully packaged Adobe Illustrator files.
Keep all text, logos and foreground images within a 3 mm safe zone from the cut edge.
For products with foil, Spot UV, cutting, creasing, perforation or drilling, we strongly recommend a composite reference page for each printed side to prevent mirrored or misplaced finishing elements and guide our design team when preparing your proof.
Supply the CMYK artwork and the foil or Spot UV elements on separate pages.
Set all foil or Spot UV elements to 100% K (black). See our helpful guide about how to supply artwork for foil printing.
Indicate die cut lines, kiss cut lines, crease lines and drill holes using a solid 1 pt magenta line on a separate page. See our helpful guide about how to supply artwork for die/kiss cutting.
Indicate perforation lines using a dashed 1 pt magenta line on a separate page.
If you select All Prints Personalised via Data Merge, supply a spreadsheet alongside your artwork containing the information for each print.

You can cover anywhere from 0% to 100% of each side of your invitation with metallic foil.
Metallic foil is applied over the printed design, so plan which areas need to stay clear when creating your artwork.
For example, if you want a large foiled background with printed names or event details showing through it, those details need to be left out of the foil artwork. This gives you the freedom to use anything from small foil accents to large reflective areas while keeping the information on your invitation clear and readable.
Keep foil lines and lettering at least 0.5pt (0.18mm) thick, with the same distance between separate foil elements.
These minimums are based on our production testing and set the level of detail we accept for customer artwork. Staying within them gives fine invitation details enough definition for the clean, consistent foil finish we expect; artwork below them falls outside our approved production standard.
Yes. You can apply metallic foil to the front, reverse or both sides of your invitations, with the print and foil arrangement chosen separately for each side.
If both sides are foiled, you can use the same foil colour on each side or choose a different colour for the front and reverse. Supply separate foil artwork for each side, with one artboard for the front and one for the reverse. The foil artwork on each side does not need to match.
We also strongly recommend including a composite reference showing the print and foil together as you want the finished invitation to appear. This gives our team a clear view of the intended placement on both sides and sits alongside, rather than replacing, the separate production artwork.
Yes, but if handwriting is important, the easiest option is to leave one side of your invitation unfoiled and unlaminated. Choosing uncoated paper for that side gives you the most reliable writing surface.
Any side receiving metallic foil must have soft touch lamination across the whole side, so individual areas cannot be left unlaminated. Pens can behave differently depending on the ink, nib and surface, so browse our sample pack range and test the pens you plan to use before placing your invitation order.
Yes. Select All Prints Personalised via Data Merge in the product calculator if details such as guest names, table numbers, reference codes or other information need to change from one invitation to the next.
After checkout, supply the variable information using our Data Merge Spreadsheet, with one row for each invitation. The main invitation design and metallic foil specification stay the same while the individual details change across the order.
You can use up to two foil colours per order: one for the front and one for the reverse. Once selected, those colours are locked in and remain the same across every design in the order.
If you split the order across multiple designs, the printed artwork and foil artwork can change, including which details are foiled and the overall foil layout, but the foil colours selected for the front and reverse cannot change within that order.
The size, paper, lamination and finishing options must also remain the same across the split order. If one design needs a different foil colour combination, it will need to be placed as a separate order.
Supply the printed invitation artwork and metallic foil artwork separately for every side receiving foil. The foil artwork should show the areas to be foiled in 100% K black. This black will not appear on the finished invitation; it simply shows our team where to put the foil.
We also strongly recommend supplying a composite reference showing the print and foil together as they should appear on the finished invitation. This gives our team a complete visual reference when checking your artwork before production.

After ordering, reply to your Order Confirmation email with your wording, branding, reference images and other relevant content, along with any direction on the design and which details you would like foiled. We’ll then send a digital proof for you to review before production.
Not exactly. Your digital proof shows the layout of your invitation artwork, information and intended foil placement, but a screen cannot reproduce the changing reflection of metallic foil.
Use the proof to check names, dates, wording, layout and foil placement before approving the design for production. If you want to compare the foil colour and reflective behaviour in person, order a metallic foil sample pack to see the finishes before ordering.
