I was a little concerned about having my printing... I was a little concerned about having my printing done in the U.K. but Aura Print did a great job. The communication was good. The quality of their printing was much better than a popular American company I have been using. The product shipped and arrived quickly and was carefully packed. I recommend them.

Going green shouldn’t be difficult, especially at a time when businesses across the globe are trying hard to put their best foot forward. That’s why we’ve expanded our range of eco-papers to include greeting card printing recycled paper.
With more than five sustainable stocks on offer for eco greeting card printing, including Recycled, Kraft greeting cards, Cotton, Wheat, and Rag, we know your recipients will be blown away when they find out their gorgeous cards are compostable (should they choose to get rid of them, of course!).
Not only are many of our eco-stocks made from plant fibres such as straw, grass, cotton, and cannabis, but so are our inks. That’s right, even the ink we use is vegan. With vegetable-derived toners stocked in our presses, we ensure cruelty-free screen printing that also results in higher quality results than the lesser alternatives. So go ahead and slap that recycle logo on the back of your card and watch as your greeting cards help save the planet.

Sustainable Paper Stocks for Eco Greeting Cards
Our eco greeting card printing range includes a wide variety of environmentally conscious paper stocks designed for brands, artists and businesses looking to reduce environmental impact without compromising print quality. From recycled and kraft boards to innovative wheat and cannabis-based papers, each material offers its own unique texture, colour tone and natural character.
Eco-friendly greeting cards are particularly popular for independent retailers, sustainable brands and handmade stationery collections where the choice of material plays a major role in overall presentation. If you would like to compare the texture, appearance and print performance of different sustainable stocks, explore our guide to comparing coated, recycled and uncoated paper finishes.
What Makes Eco Greeting Cards Different From Standard Greeting Cards?
Our eco greeting cards are for customers who want to reduce environmental impact without sacrificing texture or print quality.
Unlike the heavily coated commercial greeting cards you’d see in Clintons, our eco cards focus much more on recyclable materials, natural textures, biodegradable stocks, and lower-waste methods of production. A lot of environmentally conscious brands, artists, charities, and independent retailers choose our eco papers because the material itself becomes a big part of the overall aesthetic and relates to their brand story.
What Eco Paper Stocks Do You Offer for Greeting Cards?
Our eco stocks for greeting cards include recycled uncoated, kraft, cotton, rag, wheat, and cannabis paper.
Each paper creates a totally different visual result and texture. Recycled uncoated offers a cleaner white appearance with subtle recycled speckles throughout the fibres, while kraft produces a much darker rustic brown finish. Cotton and rag papers create soft surfaces with natural texture, while wheat and cannabis papers introduce warmer tones and visible organic fibres into the design.
These stocks are especially popular for sustainable brands, artisan stationery, eco-conscious retailers, and artists wanting their products to feel more natural and less mass-produced.
If you’re comparing sustainable paper stocks, our guide to different types of printing paper explains how different materials affect appearance, feel, and print results, while our complete paper guide walks you through our sustainable range in more detail.
Which Eco Paper Stock Produces the Most Accurate Colours?
Recycled uncoated paper usually produces the cleanest and most colour-accurate result within our eco range.
Because it has a much whiter surface than Kraft, wheat, or cannabis papers, colours remain brighter and closer to what you’ll be seeing on screen. It also has a smoother finish than cotton and rag papers, meaning fine details and heavier colour coverage reproduce more consistently.
This is one of the reasons recycled uncoated paper is especially popular for eco-friendly greeting cards, branded stationery, and designs where colour consistency is particularly important.
If you’re comparing colour accuracy across different materials, our guide on print vs screen colours explains why artwork can reproduce differently depending on paper choice, while our guide to digital printing on coloured paper delves deeper into the effects that darker stock can have on your print.
Can You Add Foil to Eco Greeting Cards?
Foil can only be added to our recycled uncoated paper stock.
Digital foiling requires a laminated surface to apply consistently, and because most of our eco papers contain natural fibres and heavily textured surfaces, they cannot be laminated or foiled reliably. Attempting to foil heavily textured stocks can lead to patchy adhesion and inconsistent results, and that’s the last thing we want.
Recycled uncoated offers the best balance between sustainability and compatibility with luxury finishes, which is why it’s the only eco stock within our range suitable for metallic foiling.
If you’re interested in sustainable foil production, our blog on foiling responsibly explains more about how we approach environmentally conscious foiling.
Which Eco Paper Stocks Work Best for Rustic or Handmade Designs?
From what we see, kraft, wheat, cotton, and rag are especially popular for rustic, handmade, and artisan-style greeting cards.
Kraft creates the strongest rustic appearance because of its natural brown colour and unbleached finish, while rag paper offers a beautifully textured, cloud-like hammered effect that works particularly well for luxury handmade greeting cards. Cotton paper provides a softer feel, while wheat paper introduces visible wheat fibres and embossed ribbed lines for a much more organic appearance.
These materials are often chosen by artists, sustainable brands, wedding businesses, and Etsy sellers who want their greeting cards to feel more personal rather than highly commercial.
Are Eco Greeting Cards Recyclable?
Yes! Our eco greeting card stocks are selected specifically with sustainability and recyclability in mind.
Many of our customers are becoming increasingly conscious of how much waste is generated by their seasonal cards, disposable stationery, plastic coatings, and heavily laminated print products. Because most of our eco papers are uncoated and free from plastic laminates, they’re straightforward to recycle compared to heavily finished commercial greeting cards.
This is one of the reasons eco greeting cards have become so popular among sustainable brands, charities, artists, and environmentally conscious retailers looking to reduce landfill waste wherever possible.
What Sizes and Fold Options Are Available for Eco Greeting Cards?
Our eco greeting cards are available in A5, A6, and DL formats.
A6 is really popular for retail greeting card collections and everyday stationery, while A5 wis great for larger illustrations, photography, and premium seasonal cards. DL eco cards are commonly used for business mailers, invitations, and minimalist stationery designs because of their slim proportions.
We also offer both standard 4-page fold and 4-page top fold formats, depending on how you’d like the card to open. All cards are supplied flat with one crease line ready for folding.
If you’re unsure how folded artwork should be supplied, our guide on explaining our folded print layouts explains how fold direction affects artwork setup and panel positioning.
Can Eco Greeting Cards Be Printed Inside and Out?
Absolutely. Eco greeting cards can be printed single-sided (outer only) or double-sided with print on both the outer and inner pages.
It’s entirely up to you whether you want to leave the inside blank for handwritten messages, or add poems, product information, branding, personalised messages, or additional illustrations inside the card itself.
Why Are Eco Greeting Cards Becoming So Popular?
More customers are actively looking for alternatives to mass-produced greeting cards that rely heavily on plastic coatings, glitter finishes, and disposable materials.
Eco greeting cards appeal to customers who want products that feel more thoughtful, recyclable, and aligned with sustainable values. Many customers also simply prefer the more natural, handmade appearance created by textured eco papers compared to highly glossy commercial cards.
After working with thousands of greeting card projects, we’ve seen particularly strong growth in eco-focused stationery from artists, ethical brands, independent retailers, charities, and greeting card businesses wanting their printed products to better reflect their environmental values.
