The Basics
- Allow 0.08" (2mm) of bleed around all artwork for cutting tolerances.
- Format all artwork to CMYK.
- Set your resolution to a minimum of 300DPI.
- Supply your artwork in PDF, JPG or fully packaged AI formats.
- Keep all text, logos and foreground images within a 0.1" (3mm) safe zone from the cut edge.
Metallic Foil & Spot UV Products
- Separate all foil elements from CMYK artwork, place foil elements on a separate page, and supply as 100% K (black). See our helpful guide about how to supply artwork for foil printing.
Die Cut Or Kiss Cut (Shaped) Products Including Stickers
- Indicate cut lines using a 1pt magenta line on a separate layer or separate page. See our helpful guide about how to supply artwork for die/kiss cutting.
Folded, Perforated or Drilled Products
- Indicate any crease lines, perforation lines or drill holes using a 1pt magenta line on a separate layer or separate page.
Spot Colours
- Supply your artwork as CMYK + 1 Spot Colour. See our helpful guide about how to supply artwork for spot colour printing.
- Name your spot colour layer with the colour you've chosen, for example 'gold' or 'silver'.

Are custom plastic business cards waterproof? +
While our PVC business cards are designed to put up a fight against wear and tear, we recommend keeping them away from water. The plastic coating on these cards is designed to repel water, however as our plastic business cards are created by sealing 250gsm printed paper within PVC plastic, we cannot guarantee that water will not penetrate the enclosed paper via the edges if submerged. How does your plastic business card printing work? +
Great question! Our custom plastic business cards are made by first printing your design onto our specially selected 250gsm cardstock, and then encapsulating it inside a sheet of plastic. This means that your designs are not actually printed on the plastic, but inside it. Magic, right?
Can you print double sided plastic business cards? +
Of course we can! In the same that we print conventional double-sided business cards, we would print your designs on each side of your paper card, masterfully sealing it between 2 layers of crystal clear PVC to create a stunning double-sided plastic business card that stands the test of time.
Do the best plastic business cards have rounded corners? +
We certainly think so. From experience, rounded corners are far easier for your customers and clients to handle, slipping in-and-out of wallets easily (much like a debit card), while preventing the discomfort of sharp plastic corners. Rounding the corners of your plastic business cards softens the edges, making the card much kinder to hold.
What is the difference between 600 Micron and 760 Micron? +
In short, the 760 Micron coating is thicker and more durable than the 600 Micron coating. Both materials are made to last, however the 760 Micron has our vote if you’re looking for an extra-tough, ultra-sturdy plastic business card.
Can you write on plastic business cards? +
Yes and no. We’ve found that some pens work with our PVC coating and some simply don’t. Finding the right pen could be a process of trial and error, and drying time would be required with most pens to stop the ink from smudging. I started a small business and wanted to get some custom business cards made. I didn't want to go with the average run of the mill business cards, so I requested some free samples to see what my options were. I learned about card thickness, soft touch vs velvet touch, foil printing, QR codes. I then used AI to make a graphic of my business card and sent it out to get quotes. I dont know about graphic programs and what it takes to make a business card, so when they wanted me to make overlays of what i wanted foil printed, I had no Idea how to do that. But Alex, from Aura Print, said they had a great in house design team that could handle it for a small fee. So i had them take my business card, do what they needed to do to it so they could print it. Alex kept me up to date with the progress, sent me graphics to approve, and then it was off to print. I was a bit worried about shipping to the USA from the UK, but it arrived with in a few days from shipping.

I’ve been trialing a few different printers and was impressed with my postcards from AuraPrints. The ordering process was easy, and the the printer who helped me at the proofing stage was super helpful. I was shocked by how quick shipping was, and the price per print was very reasonable.
Before you print, be sure to read their very detailed page that shows and lists the differences between paper and finish types. I went with recycled paper, and the colors of my print are less vibrant than the design file—just like they said it would be!

I custom designed an invitation suite for a retirement party, and first worked with Aura on my save-the-dates before doing a larger order. I was blown away by the lightning-fast proofing process, and then the incredibly quick printing. Both orders included custom foiling (which I could not find for a better price point anywhere, especially here in the US). We graphic designers know that human creativity is the core of what we do, which is why I was so appreciative that I was working with fellow humans through this process, and not through some AI. Further, the shipping process was spectacular. Whereas many US-based businesses were offering week-long SHIPPING times (excluding printing), Aura offers as its default UPS Express shipping for the US. As a result, their shipments have a 2-day transit time (for me, in a smaller city, but would be overnight for major metros), and are guaranteed by UPS. Having traversed the world of e-commerce shipping, nothing brings me greater relief than to see UPS as a shipping option. Additionally, and quite importantly for my fellow US designers, because my order consisted of what could reasonably be described as printed marketing materials, they should not be subject to tariffs. The shipping department at Aura made sure that the customs information was filled out correctly, leaving me with no duties to pay, for which I am eternally grateful. Awed by the quality of my save-the-dates, proceeding with the rest of my suite was a no-brainer, which included a main invite, detail card, and reply card. The turnaround time was similarly rapid, and the quality of the work simply unmatched. To all designers, but especially those in the US, do not let the idea of an international shipper stop you. The process required more back-and-forth than expected, particularly around artwork setup and technical specifications, which would benefit from clearer guidance earlier on. Additionally, some of the smaller text printed finer than anticipated, so this is something to be mindful of when preparing artwork for print.
