Are Fluorescent, Neon, Day-Glo and Hi-Vis Stickers the Same?
These terms are often used for the same eye-catching style of sticker. Fluorescent describes the material more precisely, while neon, Day-Glo and hi-vis are common search and marketing terms for intensely bright colours. We offer yellow, red, orange and green fluorescent sticker stock. The wording does not by itself confirm a formal safety classification, reflective performance or glow-in-the-dark property, so tell us what the sticker needs to achieve if visibility is part of a regulated application.
Do Fluorescent Stickers Glow in the Dark or Reflect Light?
No. Fluorescent stickers look exceptionally bright because the material reacts strongly to daylight and ultraviolet light, but it does not store light and glow after the light source is removed. It is also different from retroreflective material, which returns light toward its source and can appear bright in vehicle headlights. Choose fluorescent stock when you want vivid daytime impact. How Does the Fluorescent Background Affect Printed Colours?
The fluorescent stock influences any ink printed over it, so CMYK colours may look different from the same artwork printed on white material. Lighter inks can allow more of the neon background to show through, while dark, dense colours create stronger contrast. Any area left unprinted will display the selected fluorescent stock colour. Do not assume that white objects in the artwork will automatically print as opaque white; ask us about the current print specification if white ink is essential. A digital proof is useful for checking the wording, layout, scale, cut position and general colour content, but a conventional screen cannot reproduce the physical intensity of fluorescent stock. Screen brightness, display settings and surrounding light also affect what you see. Treat the on-screen fluorescent colour as an indication rather than an exact match.
