You can supply a spreadsheet with the variable information, and we’ll use it to create individually personalized certificates from your design. This is really useful for training providers, schools, colleges, universities, workplaces, sports clubs, charities, and event organizers who need a batch of certificates that all follow the same layout but include different recipient details.
The key thing is to make sure your spreadsheet is clean and clearly labeled before sending it over. For example, use separate columns for first name, last name, award title, date, or any other variable text. That helps us merge the information accurately and reduces the chance of mistakes before proofing.
That depends on the paper and finish you choose.
If you need to write names, dates, signatures, or award details by hand after delivery, we’d recommend choosing a paper stock that is suitable for handwriting, such as uncoated or another non-laminated stock. These surfaces are much easier to write on with everyday pens and are usually the safest choice for certificates that need manual completion.
Laminated certificates are more difficult to write on because the surface is sealed. Some specialist pens may work, but we wouldn’t recommend relying on standard ballpoint or gel pens for laminated surfaces. Foiled certificates also include soft touch lamination as standard on the foiled side, so if handwriting is important, it’s better to plan where that writing will go before ordering.
If every certificate needs a name or award detail, data merge is usually a cleaner option than handwriting because we can print the personalization directly onto each certificate.
